The Mining Museum - Matlock Bath, Derbyshire

Located in the Pavilion, Matlock Bath, the Peak District Mining Museum offers an enthralling insight into the many facets of mining - from the days of "t'owd man", right through to modern day mineral extraction. The many displays - both static and interactive - are guaranteed to excite visitors of all ages.

The emphasis is, of course, on mining history - the tools and techniques, the ancient laws and customs, and the minerals, their extraction and uses. The museum is also home to the impressive pump-gear rescued from Wills Founder shaft, Winster in 1976.

The society owns and controls Temple Mine in Matlock Bath - and through the museum you can go on a guided tour of this old fluorspar mine.
